When others drift from truth, grace keeps us steady.
Good morning. Today’s Bible verse is 2 Timothy 4:3–4: “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.”
Paul is not warning Timothy about the world.
The world has never endured sound doctrine.
He is warning about something far more sobering.
A turning away within the Body of Christ.
Paul speaks of a time when believers would no longer tolerate the doctrine given for this present age of grace.
A time when assemblies would trade truth for emotion, doctrine for entertainment, and grace for a mixture of law and works.
A time when teachers would appeal to desires instead of grounding believers in their identity in Christ.
We are living in that time.
Many in the Body have never been taught the distinct message Christ gave to Paul.
They mix law with grace. They chase experiences instead of truth. They seek spiritual feelings instead of spiritual understanding.
And when confronted with Pauline clarity, they often resist—not always because they are rebellious, but because they have never been grounded in the gospel of grace.
Dear brothers and sisters, this is where we must walk gently.
Many who are confused are not hardened.
They are hungry.
They have been fed spiritual fast food for so long
that the richness of Paul’s doctrine may feel unfamiliar at first.
They do not need our frustration.
They need patience.
They need direction and someone to point them to Romans through Philemon and say:
“Your identity is found here and where your assurance rests. Here is where your spiritual growth begins.”
Can Judeo-Christian culture be revived? Can assemblies return to sound doctrine?
We do not know.
But this we do know:
In spite of the chaos of the world, we who are members of the Body must not waver.
We must not acclimate to the world’s thinking.
We must not exchange truth for fast-food theology.
We must hold fast to the message Christ gave to Paul for this dispensation of grace.
We cannot force revival.
But we can remain faithful.
We can model grace. We can speak truth in love. We can live out the stability and joy that come from knowing who we are in Christ.
And as we do, the Holy Spirit will use our lives and words to draw others back to the sound doctrine they desperately need.
When the Body turns from sound doctrine, the faithful stand firm in the gospel of grace.

Meditation:
Lord, steady my heart as I walk in this time of doctrinal confusion. Holy Spirit, guide me so that I might encourage others with patience and love, and anchor my life in the truth You revealed through the apostle Paul.
Reflection Question:
Where can you gently guide another believer back toward the clarity and freedom of Paul’s gospel of grace?
