Good morning. Today’s Bible verse is Colossians 1:18: “And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence.”

What is your relationship with Jesus? Is Jesus your King, your guide, and your counselor, or is He your Savior and the Head of the Body of Believers? The answers to these questions have significant implications for your life.

If you say that Jesus is your King, then He rules over you, and you are subject to His laws and demands. You must continually perform acts of righteousness in accordance with the Law, always seeking His favor. If you see Jesus only as your spiritual guide and counselor, He offers suggestions and insights that you can choose to follow or disregard. In this scenario, you will remain in your sinful condition, separated from God.

However, if you believe the gospel of grace (1 Corinthians 15:1-4), confessing that Jesus Christ is your Savior, who shed His blood for the remission of your sin and guilt, and was raised bodily for your justification, then you are free from the penalty of sin, which is death and separation from God. You are united with Jesus Christ, the Head of the Body, and a member thereof. You are not just a subject but a joint heir with Jesus in all heavenly blessings. You are a son/daughter of God the Father, sealed blameless in the Holy Spirit.
