Christ’s truth revealed to Paul steadies the believer.

Good morning. Today’s Bible verse is 1 Timothy 6:3: “…If anyone teaches otherwise and does not consent to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which accords with godliness…”.

Take a moment to read 1 Timothy 6:3–5 and let Paul’s clarity settle your thoughts before continuing.

We live in a world where almost everything is treated as open to interpretation. Customs shift. Morals bend. Convictions blur. And this way of thinking doesn’t stay in culture — it often shapes how people approach Scripture itself.

Paul warns Timothy that some will teach “otherwise” — doctrine that does not align with the sound instruction of our Lord Jesus Christ or with godly teaching.

This is not simply error. Paul says it is rooted in pride, producing confusion, controversy, and friction.

We see the same patterns today.

Some focus on Jesus’ earthly ministry and apply it directly to the Body of Christ, missing the distinct revelation given to Paul.

Others blend Old Testament instruction with Paul’s doctrine of grace, creating a mixture that confuses the believer’s walk.

Some may reference Scripture, but they reshape it to fit views of God, sin, and salvation that are not grounded in grace.

And in our day, teaching comes from every direction — podcasts, videos, livestreams, social media, and innumerable voices claiming biblical authority. But not all teaching corresponds to the sound instruction Christ now speaks through Paul to the Body of Christ.

As believers, we must evaluate what we hear — not by popularity, emotion, or presentation, but by Scripture rightly divided. If a message does not align with the doctrine given for this age of grace, we hold fast to truth and let the Word be our guide.

Paul’s words describe the outcome of unsound teaching: envy, strife, suspicion, friction — the very symptoms of doctrine that has drifted from Christ’s instruction for today.

To understand Scripture rightly, we must rightly divide the word of truth — considering who wrote it, to whom it was written, why it was written, and the historical context in which it was given.

Without this understanding, false religions flourish, evangelical divisions increase, and pagan thinking becomes accepted.

So how does the believer respond in a world where truth is contested and sound doctrine is often ignored?

Dear brothers and sisters, let us begin where Scripture directs us: with the sound instruction of our Lord Jesus Christ — the risen Christ who now speaks through Paul to His Body.

Not the shifting opinions of culture. Not the noise of religious trends. Not the pressure of public sentiment.

But the steady, unchanging truth revealed to Paul in the Scriptures.

Meditation:
Lord, steady my heart in Your truth as I walk through a world that often drifts from it. Holy Spirit, guide my study, my practice, and my sharing of Your truth for today.

Reflection Question:
Are you evaluating the teaching you receive by Scripture rightly divided, or allowing cultural drift to shape your understanding of truth?
