Paul wrote these words to remind believers of their identity as God’s people. In the present dispensation of grace, our standing in Christ is secure, rooted in His finished work. God’s Word clarifies our state, bringing present circumstances into focus through eternal truth.
Good morning. Today’s Bible verse is 2 Corinthians 6:16: “I will be their God, and they shall be My people.”
Today we are considering what it means to belong to God.
Take a few minutes and read 2 Corinthians 6:11–7:1.
In its original context, Paul is drawing from covenant language spoken to Israel, yet he applies the truth to believers in Corinth who belong to God through Christ.
For us today, as members of the Body of Christ, the promise is enjoyed through our union with Christ and our standing in Him under grace.
As a child of God, the reality of standing as one of His own fills me with awe and wonder. God owns the world and all that is in it.
He created the universe — everything material and immaterial — and He calls all who have trusted Christ as Savior, “My people.”
Consider God’s promise to all who belong to Him and have believed the gospel of grace. Paul wrote, “I will live in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they shall be My people” (2 Co 6:16).
What a glorious realization: I am one of His. And because this reality rests on the finished work of Christ — not on me — I always remain one of His.
The stability of my physical, emotional, and spiritual life rests on this truth: I am His child.
When I lose sight of the fact that God is my God and that He directs the events of my life, I begin to live as though shifting impressions are more real than His Word.
I see my life through a kaleidoscope — colorful, moving, and constantly changing, but lacking clarity. That kaleidoscope is shaped by the world, the flesh, and the devil.
What I need is not a kaleidoscope — but a telescope.
God’s Word is that telescope.
It brings truth into clear focus and helps me see present‑day issues in light of eternal reality.
This is where the difference between standing and state becomes clear.
My standing is fixed — I am His.
My state may fluctuate, but His Word brings my thinking, my affections, and my walk back into focus.
The world offers a kaleidoscope of shifting impressions, but God’s Word is the telescope that shows me what is real.
Dear brothers and sisters, rest your heart in the reality of who you are in Him.
Let God’s Word steady your perspective. Your standing is secure, even when your state feels uncertain.
Do not be drawn away by the world’s philosophy or by religious speech that sounds spiritual but pulls the heart from Christ.
Look through the telescope of Scripture, not the kaleidoscope of the world.
Live in the reality of who you are in Christ — a child of God, a member of the Body of Christ, and an ambassador of the gospel of grace.

Meditation:
Lord, help me see my life through Your Word. Keep my heart anchored in the reality that I am Yours, and guard me from the shifting distractions of the world, the flesh, and the devil.

Where do you need to replace a kaleidoscope view with the clear focus of God’s Word today so that you may live out your identity in Christ?
