As we move through the grace gifts of Romans 12, we remember that leadership is not ambition. It is a Spirit‑given stewardship placed on the shoulders of those called to guide the Body with diligence.

Good morning. Today’s Bible verse is Romans 12:8c: “…he who leads, with diligence…”

Leadership is not for status.
Not for control.
Not for applause.
Leadership is stewardship.

The word Paul uses
speaks of stepping forward,
bearing weight,
taking responsibility
when others step back.

True spiritual leadership
is not pampered.
Leaders are not coddled.
They steady others.
They lift the weary.
They correct the careless
when the moment demands it.

Leadership is steady hands
on a shaking helm.
Clarity
when the fog settles in.
Courage
when the winds rise.

All true leadership
flows from one source—
Christ Jesus,
the Head of the Body.

The one who leads
must lead with diligence:
focused,
faithful,
anchored
in the teachings revealed to Paul
by the will of God. (See 1 Timothy 3 & Titus 1)

Dear brothers and sisters, while all of us influence others in some way,
there are some whom God has gifted to lead—
to guard,
to guide,
to steady the Body
when the path grows rough.
And the Body must pray for such leaders,
stand with them,
and follow their lead
as they follow the Shepherd.

Not because leaders are superior,
but because the Body
needs steady guides
who will not leave their post.

If God has given you
eyes that see the road ahead,
a burden to protect the flock,
a willingness to carry weight
others cannot—
stand your ground.
Use the gift.
Use it humbly.
Use it faithfully.
Use it as a reflection
of the Shepherd
who never leaves His post.

Leadership is not power.
It is responsibility
before God.

The New King James Version (Nashville: Thomas Nelson, 1982), Ro 12:8c.

Meditation:
Father, strengthen those You have gifted to lead.
Steady their hands. Steel their resolve.
May they keep their motives clean and their steps true.
Let their leadership imitate Paul as he imitated Christ.
Amen.

Reflection Question:
Are you called to lead or are you called to pray for and follow God’s leaders?
