Paul continues describing the actions and attitudes
that should mark a believer who lives out the gospel of grace.
Good morning. Today’s Bible verse is Romans 12:15:
“Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep.”
Paulteaches throughout his epistles
that the Body of Christ is a unique entity
in this present dispensation.
Scripture identifies three groups in the world—
Jews, Gentiles,
and the Body of Christ—
but only one of these groups
shares a living union
with the risen Lord Jesus Christ.
And because of that shared life,
Paul calls us to enter into one another’s joys
and one another’s sorrows.
As members of His Body,
our calling is to live out Paul’s teachings
and to use the gifts God has given us
for the strengthening and edification
of fellow believers.
Our fellowship is distinct.
While we interact with the world,
our deepest spiritual connection
is with one another—
those who share the same life in Christ
through the gospel of grace.
In today’s verse,
Paul highlights the depth of that connection.
He urges us to rejoice with
and to weep with
our brothers and sisters.
The repeated word “with”
underscores the togetherness
that belongs uniquely
to the Body of Christ.
This is more than sympathy.
It is Spirit-produced empathy—
a shared life,
a shared joy,
a shared burden.
Dear brothers and sisters,
this is the heart of our fellowship:
to rejoice with those who rejoice
and to weep with those who weep.
It is a visible expression
of our unity in Christ
and our growth in grace.
The New King James Version (Nashville: Thomas Nelson, 1982), Ro 12:15.
Meditation:
Rejoicing and weeping with others is the overflow of Christ’s life in us—
a grace‑formed heart moving toward others in love.
Reflection Question:
Who is the Lord inviting you today to rejoice with
or weep with?
