Good morning. Today’s Bible verse is Romans 12:6b–7:
“…if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith; or ministry, let us use it in our ministering; he who teaches, in teaching…”

Paul continues describing how grace expresses itself in the Body.
He moves from the general call to use our gifts
to distinct examples of how those gifts take shape.
And the pattern is the same for every gift:
whatever grace God has given you,
use it in proportion to the faith He supplies.

Paul begins with prophecy
not to promote one gift above the others,
but to show that every gift operates
under the same principle: faith.

Prophecy in Paul’s day meant speaking forth God’s truth
to strengthen the Body when there was no written word from Paul.
It required humility and reliance on the Holy Spirit to speak and teach
according to the revelation given to Paul by the word of Christ Jesus.
Not personal insights.
Not Old Testament Law nor human-inspired fables.
Just truth spoken with a firm heart and reliance upon the Holy Spirit.

Then Paul mentions ministry
simple, practical service.
The kind that meets needs quietly.
The kind that strengthens the Body
without drawing attention.
The kind that reflects the heart of Christ,
who came not to be served,
but to serve.

Some believers carry burdens.
Some organize.
Some encourage.
Some step in at just the right moment
with just the right help.
This, too, is grace at work.

Then Paul speaks of teaching
the Spirit‑enabled ability to explain God’s truth
clearly,
faithfully,
and patiently.
Teaching isn’t about impressing anyone.
It’s about building others up
with Paul’s doctrine,
helping believers understand Scripture,
interpret it rightly,
and walk in it with confidence.

Serving and teaching—
different expressions,
same source.
Grace.
And both are needed in the Body of Christ.

Dear brothers and sisters, this truth now turns toward how we live it out.
If God has given you a heart to serve,
serve with joy.
If He has entrusted you with the ability to teach,
teach with clarity and humility.
Whatever your gift may be, use it faithfully to benefit other members of the Body.
Grace was never meant to sit unused.

Reflection Question:
Where is God inviting you to serve
or to speak truth into someone’s life today?

Meditation:
Let us thank God for the grace that equips us to serve and to teach.
Seek the Holy Spirit’s guidance to recognize the opportunities He places before us
and to use our gifts with humility, love, and faithfulness.
May our service and our teaching reflect the heart of the gospel of Christ as given to Paul for us.
Amen.
