Good morning. Today’s Bible verse is 1 Corinthians 4:3,4: “But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged by you or by a human court. In fact, I do not even judge myself. For I know of nothing against myself, yet I am not justified by this; but He who judges me is the Lord.”
Some members of the Corinthian church criticized Paul's ministry, judging him for his unimpressive appearance and belittling his lack of oratory skills. Nevertheless, Paul remained steadfast in his service to Jesus Christ, refusing to be swayed by others' misguided judgments. He was dedicated to preaching the Lord's revelations about the Body of Christ and passionately defended the gospel of grace. Rather than seeking approval from people, Paul trusted his worthiness to Jesus Christ.
Dear brothers and sisters, Paul’s example clearly instructs us: our chief responsibility is to recognize our place within the Body of Christ and live out our calling each day. The opinions of others do not define us; only Jesus’ judgment truly matters. Therefore, let us remain steadfast in our faith and boldly live by holding on to this truth, just as Paul did when he stated: "For this reason, I also suffer these things; nevertheless, I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day" (2 Timothy 1:12).
So then, don’t worry about what others may say about how you are serving. Let your relationship with Jesus Christ and your service of the gospel of grace replicate Paul's attitude of service. Commit to living faithfully during this time and look forward with confidence to the welcome Jesus will give you at the end. While we may seek counsel from others, do not let others act as your judge.
Reflection: Consider how you faithfully serve according to the gifts of grace (spiritual abilities) given to you by the Holy Spirit?
