Why does Paul speak so differently from the Gospels?
Why does he use words like mystery, Body, grace, dispensation, and new creation — words we never hear in Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John?
Because God gave Paul a distinct commission.
Not a different God.
Not a different salvation.
But a different administration: the revelation of the mystery.
Today, we look at Paul’s calling and why it matters for who we are in Christ.

Good morning. Today’s primary verse is the moment the risen Christ defines Paul’s ministry: Acts 9:15: “But the Lord said to him, ‘Go, for he is a chosen vessel of Mine to bear My name before Gentiles, kings, and the children of Israel.’”

Paul did not volunteer for this role.
He was chosen, confronted, and commissioned by the risen Christ Himself.
Paul’s salvation and calling happened at the same moment.

Jesus told him:
"I now send you to open their eyes so they may receive forgiveness of sins." (Acts 26:17–18, NKJV)
Paul was sent:
• Not to Israel alone
• Not to continue the kingdom offer
• Not to preach the gospel of the kingdom

Paul was sent to the nations with the message of the cross, the finished work of Christ, rather than to continue Israel's kingdom offer.
This is why Paul later writes: “I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify my ministry.” (Romans 11:13, NKJV)
And again: “The gospel… is not according to man… but came through the revelation of Jesus Christ.” (Galatians 1:11–12, NKJV)

This gospel, the gospel of grace, was not known during Jesus’ earthly ministry.
It was revealed to Paul after the cross by the risen Christ.
Paul’s ministry had a second dimension — one that sets him apart from every other apostle: “To make all see what is the dispensation of the mystery…” (Ephesians 3:9, NKJV)

The mystery was:
• hid in God (Eph. 3:9)
• not revealed in other ages (Eph. 3:5)
• kept secret since the world began (Rom. 16:25)
• now made manifest (Col. 1:26)

What was the mystery?
• Jew and Gentile in one Body
• A new creation
• A heavenly people
• Christ in you, the hope of glory
• A salvation apart from Israel’s covenants
• A program not foretold in prophecy

This is why Paul speaks differently.
Paul explains a new administration, the age of grace, which is why his language differs.
And this is why mixing the kingdom gospel with the gospel of grace creates confusion.
It pulls believers back under the works, fear, and performance — as if righteousness must be maintained rather than received.
It blurs the finished work of Christ and burdens the conscience God has already cleansed.

Through Paul’s gospel:
• we stand blameless before God
• we are forgiven, not seeking forgiveness
• we are accepted, not striving to be accepted
• we are sealed, not hoping to stay sealed
• we live from grace, not toward it

By faith — faith plus nothing — we belong to the Body of Christ.
There is no further sacrifice, no ritual to maintain, no law to keep to stay in God’s favor.
We stand complete in Christ because the cross is complete.

Dear brothers and sisters, we who are members of the Body of Christ are now ambassadors of this grace.
We carry the message entrusted to Paul — the message Jesus Christ gave for this dispensation.
So when someone asks, “Why Paul? Why not follow the Ten Commandments or the earthly teachings of Jesus?”

You can answer with confidence:
Because Jesus Christ chose Paul to reveal the message of grace for this age, and through that message, we learn who we are in Him.

Meditation:
Lord, thank You for the grace You revealed through Paul. Teach me to rest in the finished work of Christ and to walk in the identity You have given me in this age of grace.
