Good morning. Today’s Bible verse is 1 Corinthians 12:12: “For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.”

(Continued from 1/4/2025)

Paul’s teaching reveals that Jesus Christ is the Head of the Body and all believers in the gospel of grace are united as one. This unity is central: believers are joined together in Christ to support and deepen relationships within His Body.

In the current era of grace, everyone who accepts the gospel of grace by faith alone is considered a member of the spiritual Body of Christ. Believers are not part of an earthly kingdom, nor do they proclaim a kingdom gospel or bear responsibility for establishing the kingdom. That promise is reserved for Israel, who will one day receive their Messiah and King. For now, God has opened the way of unity for Jews and Gentiles through faith in the gospel of grace, and upon believing, the Holy Spirit places each one into the Body and bestows a spiritual gift for the benefit of others.

Dear brothers and sisters, as members of Christ’s Body, we share spiritual promises and are united to one another. Our focus is to love and serve God. We should live with gratitude for what He has accomplished for us through the finished work of Christ on the cross. We are called daily to resist temptation, putting off the old nature and putting on the new nature, and thereby encouraging one another to live accordingly. As we anticipate Christ’s upward call, it is important to remain steadfast and focused in studying Paul’s teachings. Serve with diligence. Live in alignment with our calling as sons and daughters of God.

Reflection: Believers are empowered by the Holy Spirit to love God and serve others, focusing on spiritual unity and growth in anticipation of Christ's return.
