God’s promises stand even when your feelings shift.

Good morning. Today’s Bible verse is Isaiah 54:10: “‘For the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, but my steadfast love shall not depart from you, and my covenant of peace shall not be removed,’ says the Lord, who has compassion on you.”

Ever had one of those days when you don’t feel bad, but you don’t feel especially good either? Parts of your world churn with turmoil, while other parts rest in peace. You know God is there, yet you still feel alone.

Those are the days when you need to recall and reclaim the promises of God’s Word. God our Father never promised that we would live lives of pure happiness, but He has promised that He would always be with us.

Isaiah 54:10 is one such passage. While this verse is directed to comfort the nation of Israel, it also demonstrates the love and care of God for His people in any dispensation. Our God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Those whom He has called, those whom He has elected by His sovereign love, can rest assured that He will honor His promises.

Dear brothers and sisters, we who have believed the gospel of grace for salvation by faith alone find contentment in the love and compassion of God our Father, who sustains us through those days of disquiet and dissonance — days when health, happiness, and human pleasure seem to rest just outside the door of our dwelling.

At times, I feel that way. The vagaries of human life can cloud my thinking and muddy the waters of my heart. In the past, I would struggle to find happiness and relief in my own strength, apart from the ministry of God the Holy Spirit, but the principle behind Isaiah’s message brought comfort.

For those in Christ, the Spirit’s presence is not a feeling but a fact.

Through the comfort of knowing that God is a promise‑keeping God, I have learned that those days of uneasiness and indifference are part of God’s plan for me, and that through them I draw closer to God by seeking His love and compassion in His Word. As I rely on God the Holy Spirit to guide me, I find comfort in the promises of God.

On days when you or I feel alone, know beyond a shadow of a doubt that God our Father knows our hearts, and God the Holy Spirit, the Blessed Comforter, will always be in us. He will never forsake His promises or His own. He is a promise‑keeping God.

Rest in His promises today.

Meditation:
Lord, remind me today that Your love never departs and Your promises never fail. Help me rest in Your compassion when my heart feels unsettled.
