Our Citizenship and Our Coming Transformation
Good morning. Today’s Bible verses are Philippians 3:20,21: “For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself.”
Today, Paul reminds us where we belong and what awaits us.
Our citizenship is already in heaven. Through faith in the gospel of grace, we belong to Christ, and our true home is where He is. This world may press on us, but it does not define us. Our identity is anchored above.
And because our citizenship is in heaven, we eagerly wait for our Savior. He is coming for His Body, and when He does, He will transform our lowly bodies to be like His glorious body.
We know the weakness of these earthly frames. Youth brings scraped knees; age brings broken bones. Strength fades. Pain lingers. The body reminds us daily that we live in a fallen world.
But this is not the whole story.
Christ’s resurrection was physical and victorious. And because we are members of His Body, His resurrection guarantees ours. The same power that raised Him will reshape our frail bodies into glorified ones fit for eternity.
So, dear brothers and sisters, as the years advance and the body weakens, do not lose heart. Look upward. Remember where your citizenship lies. Remember who is coming for you. Even if we die before that blessed moment, all who believe the gospel of grace will be raised incorruptible — never again to feel the sting of decay.
This is our hope.
This is our confidence.
This is the promise of the gospel of grace.

Meditation:
Your body may weaken, but your future is glory.
Reflection Question:
Where do you feel the weight of physical weakness today, and how does this promise steady your heart?
