If you have believed Paul’s gospel of grace -
Your Salvation Is Complete — Your Standing Is Final
Good morning. Today’s verse is Ephesians 2:13: “But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.”
Take a moment and read Ephesians 2:11-13 and consider your standing before God.
Don’t rely on your feelings.
Don’t rely on your performance.
Don’t rely on your ability.
Consider your standing in Christ.
If you have believed the gospel of grace:
You who were once dead in trespasses and sins (Eph. 2:1)…
You who were by nature children of wrath (Eph. 2:3)…
You who were once enemies of God (Rom. 5:10)…
have now been brought near by the blood of Christ.
You did not earn this nearness.
You cannot maintain it by effort.
You cannot lose it by weakness.
“You who once were far off have been brought near…”
Not by works.
Not by law.
Not by performance.
By the blood of Christ.
By the power of His blood, you were redeemed from the slave market of sin.
By the work of the Holy Spirit, you were placed into the Body of Christ.
By God’s sovereign grace, you now stand “in Christ Jesus.”
Nothing you do will make God love you more.
Nothing you do will make Him love you less.
Your eternal destiny is secure because of faith in the gospel of grace: Christ’s finished work.
Dear brothers and sisters,
When life feels unstable…
When your walk feels weak…
When your emotions feel scattered…
And when the old nature and the evil one accuse you…
Remember this:
You have been brought near.
You are His.
You are secure.
You are loved.
You are kept.
Not by your grip on God —
but by God’s grip on you.
The New King James Version (Nashville: Thomas Nelson, 1982), Eph 2:13.
Meditation:
Father, thank You that through the blood of Christ I have been brought near. Help me rest in Your love, stand firm in Your grace, and walk today with confidence in who I am in Christ.
Reflection Question:
What changes in your heart when you remember that your nearness to God depends on Christ’s blood, not your performance?
