Life is short. Receive the day with thanksgiving.
Good morning. Today’s Bible verses are Ecclesiastes 11:7-9:
Truly the light is sweet,
And it is pleasant for the eyes to behold the sun;
But if a man lives many years
And rejoices in them all,
Yet let him remember the days of darkness,
For they will be many.
All that is coming is vanity.
Dear brothers and sisters,
The Preacher of Ecclesiastes writes with sober realism,
but that does not mean it is without wisdom
for the believer today.
This passage reminds us to receive
the goodness God gives in this life
while remembering
that sorrow also comes,
and that life under the sun is brief.
As members of the Body of Christ,
we can receive the bright days
with thanksgiving, resting in the
grace God has given us in Christ.
When dark days come, as they surely will,
we do not face them like those without hope.
We may grieve,
but we grieve knowing
that our life is hid with Christ in God,
and that one day we will be with Him
in the Sonshine of His glory.
