Justified freely. Accepted fully. Righteous forever.

Good morning. Today’s passage is Romans 3:24–28: “…being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus… to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus… Therefore, we conclude that a man is justified by faith apart from the deeds of the law.”

Justification is one of the clearest and most liberating truths Paul proclaims. It means God declares a sinner righteous—not because of works, rituals, or religious effort, but freely by His grace through the finished work of Christ.

Many hear, “the Law came by Moses, but grace came by Jesus Christ,” and misunderstand what that means. The Law itself contained grace—sacrifices that covered sin and pointed forward to Christ. In His earthly ministry, Jesus fulfilled prophecy and offered grace according to the Law, taking the place of the sacrificial lamb.

But in this present age, God’s grace is expressed through the gospel revealed to Paul—that Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again the third day (1 Corinthians 15:1–4). This is the gospel that saves. This is the message through which God justifies freely.

Every person enters this world affected by Adam’s sin—spiritually dead, separated from God, and destined for physical death. Religion tries to fix this through ceremonies, steps, and works, but none of these can remove guilt or produce righteousness. They may soothe the conscience for a moment, but they cannot justify.

Dear brothers and sisters, if you are striving to earn God’s acceptance through religious activity, STOP.
You cannot earn what God gives freely.
You cannot work your way into righteousness.
You cannot perform your way into peace.

God has provided one way—faith in the gospel of grace.
Not faith plus works.
Not faith plus law.
Not faith plus religious effort.

Just faith.

Through the blood of Christ, God remains perfectly just—He does not ignore sin—and yet He is also the justifier of the one who believes in Jesus. The cross satisfied His righteousness. The resurrection confirmed the payment was accepted. And faith simply receives what grace provides.

This is why Paul concludes with such clarity:
“A man is justified by faith apart from the deeds of the law.”

No rituals.
No ten step programs.
No striving to maintain salvation.
No attempts to balance good deeds against guilt.

Just believe — and live by faith.

Today, rest in this truth:
You are justified freely by His grace—declared righteous, forgiven, and accepted because of Christ alone.

Meditation:
My righteousness before God does not come from my works, but from Christ’s finished work. I am justified freely by His grace.

Reflection Question:
Where have you been tempted to rely on religious effort instead of resting in the righteousness God freely gives?
