God’s warnings are never cruel. They are invitations to life.
So, God appoints a watchman so His Word may be heard.
Good morning. Today’s Bible verse is Ezekiel 33:7: “So you, son of man: I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; therefore you shall hear a word from My mouth and warn them for Me.”
In every dispensation, God speaks. And when He speaks, He appoints a messenger — a watchman — to proclaim His Word.
The watchman does not create the message. He does not reshape it or soften it. He delivers it.
God’s warning is not cruelty. It is mercy sounding before judgment comes.
We read His heart in Ezekiel 33:11: “…I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live. (Ezekiel 33:11, NKJV)
God’s heart is not destruction. It is mercy.
Even when judgment draws near, His calls:
Turn and live.
Take a few minutes and read Ezekiel 33.
In Ezekiel’s day, the nation stood on the edge of collapse. Idolatry had hardened them. Covetousness had consumed them. Their leaders were blind, and their worship corrupted.
So God appointed a watchman — a man to warn them, plead with them, and call Israel back to the God who still loved them.
But Israel refused the watchman’s cry.
They rejected the prophets and the Word. And when Jesus of Nazareth came — Israel’s Messiah, Prophet, and King — they rejected Him as well.
Yet even in their refusal, God’s purpose did not fail. His Word would not be silenced. He has a plan and His message would continue, and the watchman principle would appear again in the next dispensation.
