Good morning. Today's Bible verse is Deuteronomy 29:29: “The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but those things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.”
“If God is all-powerful, why is there suffering?” asks the skeptic. The answer is that God is God. He allows evil and causes good for His glory. In response, the cynic says, “But that doesn’t make sense.” We may not be required to answer every question about God’s dealings with mankind; however, today’s verse provides a biblical response. As Moses notes, God does not reveal or explain everything—nor is He obligated to, because He is God. Still, He has revealed what we need to learn about Him and live accordingly in each dispensation.
Although we may never fully comprehend God's ways, He has not left us without direction. For the nation of Israel, God provided the Law and established covenants through which He intended to bless Israel and, ultimately, the entire world. In a similar way, for those of us in the Body of Christ, He has given us the gospel of grace and the principles of grace-filled living, as outlined in the letters of Paul. This ongoing revelation provides a basis for understanding God and shapes how we respond to Him.
Dear brothers and sisters, we don't need to answer every skeptic who misunderstands God and the Bible, but we are called to witness to the truth of the gospel of grace. Today’s verse highlights an essential aspect of our relationship with God: His ways are beyond our comprehension. On a similar theme, Paul writes in Romans 11:33, “Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!” We must accept that the God of the Bible is God and He is working out His plan for this world. Faith is the key to understanding.

Reflection: You can either choose to rely on your own understanding or humbly trust God and His revealed Word, recognizing His authority above your own.
