Fullness in Him, lacking nothing
You are not becoming complete — you are complete in Christ.

Good morning. Today’s verse is Colossians 2:10: “…and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.”

Truth to Consider

Paul gives us a truth that settles the restless heart: you are complete in Christ. Not becoming complete. Not working toward completeness. Not hoping to reach it someday.

That completeness is already yours in Christ.

The word Paul uses is written in the perfect tense, meaning a past action with ongoing results. God has already acted, and the results continue today. You were made complete the moment you believed the gospel of grace, and that completeness remains your present identity.

You lack nothing because Christ lacks nothing.

1. Complete — a finished act with ongoing results

Paul does not say you will be complete.
He says you are complete.

The grammar matters here.
The perfect tense tells us:

·       God completed the work in the past
·       and the results continue into the present

And the passive voice tells us:

·       you did not complete yourself
·       God completed you

Your completeness is not a process you maintain.
It is a gift God accomplished.

 2. Complete — because Christ is full

Paul has just said that all the fullness of the Godhead dwells in Christ (Col. 2:9).
Then he says:

“And you are complete in Him.”

Your fullness comes from His fullness.
You are not drawing from your own strength, your own righteousness, or your own spiritual progress. You are drawing from Christ Himself — the One in whom all fullness dwells.

Paul is not saying we become divine, but that we are made complete in Him.

Being in Him means His fullness is the source of your completeness.

 3. Complete — not becoming complete

As we walk with the Lord, we do grow in understanding, maturity, and wisdom.

But we do not grow into acceptance, forgiveness, or standing.

Those are settled.
You are not climbing toward completeness.
You are living from completeness.

This truth steadies the soul.
It frees you from striving.
It anchors you in grace.

4. Complete — even as we wait for bodily redemption

Spiritually, you are complete now.
Nothing is missing.
Nothing is lacking.

One day, when Christ appears, your body will be made complete as well — glorified, renewed, and freed from the weakness of the old creation.

But your spiritual identity in Christ is already whole, secure, and settled.

You can live each day resting in what Christ has already done for you.

The New King James Version (Nashville: Thomas Nelson, 1982), Col 2:10.

Meditation:
Father, thank You that I am complete in Christ. Help me rest in the finished work You have done, and teach me to live each day from the fullness that is already mine in Him. Strengthen me to walk in confidence, gratitude, and faith, knowing I lack nothing in Christ.

How does knowing you are already complete in Christ change the way you face today’s challenges?
