Good morning! Today’s Bible verses are from 1 Thessalonians 5:9–10:
“For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, that whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him.”

Paul wrote these words to the
Thessalonian believers under pressure.
Not political pressure.
Not cultural pressure.
But doctrinal pressure.

Certain individuals had confused the believers.
They claimed the great tribulation had already begun.
They stirred fear.
They unsettled hearts.
They clouded the hope Paul had given them.

So Paul wrote to steady them.
He reminded them that the tribulation had not started.
He clarified the timing of the Lord’s return.
He explained the conclusion of this present dispensation of grace.
He refuted the false teachings that had shaken their confidence.
And he reassured them that fear had no place in the believer’s heart.

Paul’s message was simple, strong, and unmistakable:
You are not appointed to wrath.
Not partially.
Not temporarily.
Not symbolically.
Not at all.

The Thessalonians needed this truth.
They needed clarity.
They needed reassurance.
They needed to know that God’s plan for them
was salvation — not judgment.
And so do we.

Dear brothers and sisters
as we watch the world shift,
as we hear voices claiming that the Body of Christ
will endure the horrors of the tribulation,
as confusion spreads through pulpits and platforms,

Paul’s words still stand:
“God did not appoint us to wrath.”

This is where Part 1 ends —
with Paul steadying a shaken church,
lifting their eyes from fear to assurance,
and anchoring them again
in the gospel of grace.

Meditation:
Paul’s first work in Thessalonica was not to predict events,
but to steady believers. Let his clarity steady you today.

Reflection Question:
Where have confusing voices tried to shake your confidence,
and how does Paul’s reassurance restore your footing?
