Build your life on Christ’s revealed truth.
Good morning. Today’s Bible verses are 1 Timothy 6:3,5: “If anyone teaches otherwise and does not consent to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which accords with godliness… From such withdraw yourself.”
If Day 1 revealed the drift and Day 2 revealed the anchor, Day 3 reveals the path forward.
A believer remains steadfast not by reacting to the world around him or by arguing with those who oppose the truth. We find stability as we return to the foundational doctrines that define our identity, our calling, and our hope in this present age.
These doctrines are not abstract ideas. They are the foundation on which the Body of Christ believer stands, and they help us build a life and testimony worthy of our calling as ambassadors of the gospel of grace.
Paul’s warning to Timothy is clear: sound doctrine matters. To “consent to wholesome words” is to hold fast to the truths Christ has revealed through Paul — the doctrine that accords with godliness and steadies the believer in this age of grace. And when teaching drifts from these wholesome words, Paul’s instruction is simple and quiet: “From such withdraw yourself.” Not in anger, not in argument, but in clarity — a gentle separation from confusion so we can remain anchored in Christ’s revealed truth.
These are the truths the risen Christ revealed through Paul for the stability, growth, and godliness of the believer today:
the gospel of grace — Salvation by faith alone apart from the works of the Law
the believer’s identity in Christ — Accepted, sealed, secure by the plan and purpose of God the Father
the doctrine of godliness — Christ living His life in us through the indwelling Holy Spirit, as we count the old nature dead and the new nature alive, saying no to sin and yes to God
the Body of Christ — One new man with a heavenly calling, heavenly blessing, and a heavenly future
the walk of grace — Shaped by faith in the power and guidance of the Spirit, rather than the legalism, condemnation, and subjugation of the Law
the blessed hope — Christ’s appearing for His Body whereby He will take us home to be with Him
the mystery truths — The doctrines once hidden, now revealed for the establishment and benefit of the members of the Body of Christ
Dear brothers and sisters, these are the truths we hold with steadfast faithfulness — not with argument, not with confrontation, but with steady confidence in what Christ has revealed to Paul for us.
For us who are members of the Body of Christ, these truths steady us in an uncertain world. They provide clarity for our walk of faith. They guard our hearts and minds so we can live without fear and think with spiritual clarity, even when the world around us is confused. By these truths, we build a life for this age, based on the truth revealed to Paul, rather than on assumptions, tradition, or ungodly thinking.
The Path Forward
So then, as we meditate on, hold fast to, and proclaim these truths, let us do so with grace, patience, and quiet confidence. The purpose is not to win a fight, but to steady our minds and strengthen our walk.
Paul’s instruction, “From such withdraw yourself,” reminds us that separation from confusion is often quiet, simple, and without conflict. We withdraw not in anger, but in clarity, choosing the steady path of truth Christ has revealed through Paul for this age of grace.
Beloved, this is the quiet path forward for every believer in this age of grace, a steady walk shaped by clarity, peace, and Christ’s revealed truth.
Meditation:
Dear Holy Spirit, please guide my steps as I build my life on the truths that the risen Savior has given to the apostle Paul for this age of grace.
Reflection Question:
Which doctrine is the Holy Spirit gently drawing your attention to first?
