Good morning. Today’s verse is 2 Corinthians 5:17: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”

On Friday (1/16/25), we looked at what God has already done for us in Christ. Today, we look at how that truth shapes the way we live.

Dear brothers and sisters, as members of Christ’s Body, we recognize that while we remain in this earthly body, we are not perfect. Having believed the gospel of grace, we know that all our sins are forgiven and we stand blameless before God — that is our salvation. Yet as we live our daily lives, we experience the ongoing struggle with the old nature that still resides within — that is our sanctification.

Our salvation is instantaneous by faith in the gospel of grace. Our sanctification is a lifelong process lived by faith. So we put off the old nature that resists God and embrace the new nature that seeks to live for Him. By studying Paul’s teachings for this age of grace, we grow in wisdom and in the knowledge of what God has already done for us.

And when we do sin, we acknowledge it, rest in the forgiveness purchased by Christ’s blood, and continue forward. Christ has made us new. Today is simply an opportunity to walk in what He has already done.

Let us take a moment to thank God our Father for the new life we have received in Christ. As we go about our day, let us seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit, walking with steady hearts and resting in the identity we have through grace and faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ, the Head of the Body. Amen.
